I cannot believe that M and R are going to be 9 months old on the 14th. Today the doctor asked me if I remember the first few weeks...wow..interesting question...well, yes, of course I do, but those days and the worries we had then do seem long behind us. Of course, now our days are filled with different dilemmas and worries, ha! We solved the sleeping through the night problem, have naps in place, have solidified a general routine...now we are onto...hmmm...what do we need to childproof next...and what should we feed these kids now??? Riley's picture from this afternoon sums it all up...these questions need quick answers!
One thing I did learn today is that the days of taking the kids to the doctor by myself have to go by the wayside for the time being. OMG! Trying to handle 2 mobile babies, talk to the doctor, get my questions answered, have the kids examined and have them get finger pricks and shots...phew! I needed to be an octopus! Riley learned that the paper on the exam table is on a roll and proceeded to pull it and wrap himself in it! The doctor was laughing, I did not know if I should laugh or blush in embarrassment! Madison had stranger danger with the nurse and screamed, but them proceeded to flirt with the doctor and his med student. Gotta love it!
The kids had to have their fingers pricked for a blood test, they could have done the test from the blood that dripped on my pants, geez! They tried to put a shiny band-aid on the kids fingers, MISTAKE! They wanted to stare at it and eat it! Well, it fell off right away, more blood everywhere on the kids this time. (Thank goodness I baths every day!) So, by this point the kids and I have blood on us, and there are still shots to give. I put Riley in his car seat so I could hold Madison for her shots. Well, as she is screaming, he is crawling OUT of his seat! SO I have the nurse hold Madison and grab Riley. I can then go back to Madison where she puts out her arms to give me a hug, can you say heart melt??? Then Riley gets his shots and Madison is in her seat kicking cuz she is so hungry. I let her kick and went to Riley where he was pulling my hair sooooo hard when he was getting his shot. Worth the lost hairs if he felt better.
AHHHH, both kids in their car seats and they are tired, in pain and starving. Out comes the baby food and I HOG the room for minutes so I can get 2 jars of baby food in them before we hit the road. And breathe...
Madison currently weighs 16 lbs 12 oz. She is 27 1/2 inches long. Her head is in the 90th percentile for size (thanks daddy!)
Riley weighs 15 lbs 8 oz. He is 27 1/2 inches long. His head is in the 25th percentile for size (thanks mom!).
Our kids are not the biggest on the block, but growing consistently and that is what we want to see. Developmentally they are meeting or exceeding all milestones for 9 month olds even though they were 7 weeks early. Could we be luckier???
When we got home from the doc, the kids took a long nap and then believe it or not, we went to Target! The kids actually loved the trip. They were holding their new "cans" of finger foods and giggles the whole time we were there. GOOFS! They love Target as much as their mommy!
Then it was time for some much needed playtime. Of all the toys, the kids found the stairs to be their favorite activity. Go figure!!!
